Hadrian´s wall

Silent ruin to the sense, that echoes a forgotten, powerful past

Newcastle

We walked along Hadrian's Wall in attentive silence, each stone bearing witness to the history of borders and the stubborn presence of people. The morning haze lifted over barren hills and swept across ruins rising from the marshland's soft contours; the wind carried the taste of sea and earth, and our steps joined in a rhythm of respect for the place's earlier voices. Integrity, creativity and empathy guided the way we moved—interpreting the wall's stories without taking them over, allowing the photograph to be made with care, and meeting local narratives with openness—so that each image became more than a view: a bridge between then and now, portrayed with tenderness and genuine connection.

Border to the north

Two hikers, a woman and a man, standing close together with arms around each other outdoors near a wooden structure with a sign that reads 'The End of Hadrian's Wall Path.' The woman has short hair, is wearing a gray beanie, a black long sleeve top, and has a tennis bag over her shoulder. The man has a beard, is wearing a green cap, a black short sleeve shirt, and khaki pants. They are smiling, and the man has his hand on his hip. There is greenery and flowering bushes surrounding them, and an information sign in the lower left corner of the image.

We finished at Bowness-on-Solway beneath a pewter sky, where the Irish Sea breathes over mudflats. Tidal channels carve the estuary; oystercatchers probe the sand, curlews call across a tide-held expanse. The village — stone cottages and old piers — sits small against land shaped by salt, wind and tide. Where the Solway narrows, horizon becomes a negotiation of elements. Light cooled to a hush as the last colours drained from the mudflats, the estuary holding the patient history of coast and climate.

Jeremy captures a quiet, contemplative moment in this image, blending soft natural light with precise composition to reveal both the landscape's mood and his thoughtful presence within it.

Eira gazes pensively into the distance, her expression a quiet mix of wistfulness and calm.
